My Letter To You

Thanks for visiting. This business means a lot to me. I hope the website gives you a flavor of what makes Shift a little different in this extraordinarily crowded marketing segment.

You can trace the roots of Shift back to 2005, with the launch of the brand development firm Harrison|Kohn. Our focus was on helping businesses in Upstate South Carolina identify and leverage the one service/benefit their customers valued above all else.

When the 2008 recession put the national economy in a tailspin, we rebranded as Shift Marketing Communications. Our mission was simple: Work as a tactical agency to help local B2B companies get the most from their marketing budget.

Technical and industrial marketing became the cornerstone of our business. For more than fifteen years, we’ve worked with dozens of technical and engineering-based operations to crystalize brand positioning, revamp websites and create engagement through LinkedIn and email programs.

In 2010, Shift became the first agency in Greenville to bring on a talented videographer as full employee. The capability to quickly produce short videos was a natural fit for industrial clients needing to demonstrate a particular expertise.

Guiding our work was a simple idea expressed in the book The Human Brand: People intuitively evaluate businesses on the basis of perceived warmth and competence. We continue to use short, interview-based videos to capture these two powerful dimensions for our industrial marketing clients.
